10.22“Smart Women, Smart Money” Conference
The NNU School of Business participated, along with Idaho State Treasurer Ron Crane and local businesses, in The Idaho “Smart Women, Smart Money” Conference October 18, 2008 at Boise Centre on the Grove. The conference and its workshops offered Idaho women of every age and economic standing the opportunity to learn valuable information for improving their lives. The message of the conference was, “It is never too late or too early to learn about finances.” Workshop topics included budgeting, home ownership, surviving the economy, the basics of investing, scams and fraud, retirement and starting a business.
NNU Accounting Professor Ann Thompson-Crabb said, “This was an outstanding event for educating and empowering women. Listening to discussions, I was touched by mothers and daughters attending together, women concerned about their credit and young entrepreneurs wanting to change the world. This conference gave women the gift of financial knowledge in a safe environment.”
Business School participants were Kendra Lubiens, Heather Beam, Lynette Kingsmore, and Rhonda Gray, as well as Professors Ann Thompson-Crabb and Karen Jones. Undergraduate volunteers included Lisa Bloomquist, James Jenson, Kate Cochran, Riley Cook, Linnea Hanson, and Kristy Andrews.
