I joined nearly 10000 other economists at the annual meetings for the American Economic Association in San Francisco January 3rd through the 5th. Of course there were plenty of lively discussions and academic presentations on causes of the 2008 financial crisis.

In February 2009 the Idaho Treasure Valley (with activities in Sun Valley and McCall) will host the 2009 World Winter Games of the Special Olympics. The event will draw more people to Boise and the surrounding area than attended the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
