Each issue of the Messenger, we provide a profile for one NNU faculty member, one staff member, one undergraduate student and one graduate student. Meet Jose (Pepe) Irineo Palacios Belmonte, our graduate student profile for Winter 2023.

NAME: Jose (Pepe) Irineo Palacios Belmonte

MAJOR/MINOR: Theology

FUTURE PLANS: After finishing the Th.D. program I plan to teach wherever is needed or have an opportunity to do it.

GRAD YEAR: 2025

HOMETOWN: I am from Guadalajara, Mexico, but currently based in Fort Worth, TX.

FUN FACT ABOUT YOU: Many people ask me, “Why do you keep studying at your age?” I tell them: because I am still growing up.

FAVORITE NNU MEMORY: One of the best times at NNU was meeting my classmates in person for one week, including having a wonderful time with Dr. Tomas Alvarez, Dr. Diane Leclere and Dr. Amy Rice.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT NNU: Its people. President, program director, staff, teachers, IT department, librarian and even security personnel were so gentle and patient with me and my classmates.

SOMETHING VALUABLE YOU LEARNED AT NNU: It`s worth it every effort to accomplish your goals, no matter how old you are. NNU will help you in this endeavor.

PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT FROM YOUR TIME AT NNU: Finishing my first courses.

FAVORITE QUOTE: “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”—John 8:32

ADVICE YOU’D OFFER TO FUTURE STUDENTS: You have a purpose greater than you, aim to discover it and to accomplish it while you are alive.

WHY YOU CHOSE CHRISTIAN HIGHER EDUCATION: Because, the Creator of the universe, the King of kings, called me to serve Him loving others and bringing them a message of hope, a message of true life.

HOW DO YOU KNOW BELONGING BECAUSE OF NNU? My friend and co-servant, Dr. Tomas Alvarez, called me to be part of this amazing community. I feel that I am not only learning but belonging.
