H.A.C.K
Model of Innovative Instruction
The H.A.C.K. Model of Innovative Instruction is a systematic approach for K-12 teachers to integrate technology into their teaching practices.
H.A.C.K. is designed to move a classroom from a Highly Structured environment to a student-centered environment where students take ownership and personalize their learning. Formed around Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy and Webb’s Depth of Knowledge, the H.A.C.K. Model is a logical methodology to innovative practices that move student learning from a foundational level of knowledge to a more sophisticated understanding where students consistently analyze, evaluate, and create information. The H.A.C.K. Model builds teacher capacity to become the facilitator of learning and transfer ownership to students. In a classroom where the H.A.C.K. Model is implemented, students will build capacity and independence to become self directed PBL learners.

What is HACK?
The H.A.C.K. Model is a logical methodology to innovative practices that move student learning from a foundational level of knowledge to a more sophisticated understanding where students consistently analyze, evaluate, and create information:
- Highly Structured
Highly structured is about replacement activities. It allows educators to see what technology can look and feel like while building classroom management procedures. - Allowed Choices
Allowed Choices is about giving students choice in how they show evidence of their learning. Students now choose which platform would be best to display their knowledge. - Knowledge Centered
Knowledge Centered instruction develops highly independent learners that think cross-curricularly. Student projects move beyond the classroom where their learning solves relevant problems. - Consistent Application
Students consistently use technology to complete and personalize cross-curricular projects. The classroom is characterized by a culture where technology is no longer a barrier but a necessity.
H.A.C.K. Online
H.A.C.K. Online is an online experience for participants to learn about the H.A.C.K. Model of Innovative Instruction. Each of the four courses focuses on one phase of the model where teachers build the capacity to support innovative instruction in their classroom. Teachers can choose to participate individually or a school or district can set up a cohort model course.´
