Classroom Systems Support Technician

 

Description of Position

Reporting to the Information Technology Operations Manager, the Classroom Systems Support Technician will have responsibilities in multiple areas of IT, including Video Conferencing support, ITS Project/Policy Management, Level II/III Help Desk support, and Classroom Technology support. This position may be scheduled to work varied hours (and occasional weekends, as needed). This is a full-time, exempt position. 
 

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate video conferences, including maintaining and sharing schedules, testing and set-up/tear-down of equipment
  • Ensure successful data connections and operation of the equipment
  • Second Tier Support for all Audio/Video (Distance Education) Technicians
  • Provide Audio/Video services to multiple sites
  • Perform troubleshooting and routine maintenance of AV equipment and computers
  • Manage classroom teleconference technology
  • Teach staff, faculty, and TA's how to best utilize video conferencing equipment and software
  • Manage and administrate the NNU’s Distance Education Program for teleconference classes
  • Serve as Help Desk Level II/III support
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of Experience in technical support
  • Sufficient skills, knowledge and training to perform the essential functions of this position
  • Ability to learn the use of video conferencing equipment and methods of connection
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to perform basic trouble-shooting of technical problems with the equipment and IP connections
  • Short notice availability for non-regular hours
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move heavy, bulky furniture, bending, lifting overhead
  • Basic network understanding
  • Ability to work independently and within the team
  • Strong interpersonal skills (via phone) to assist video conference participants in using the equipment successfully
  • Must be dependable, with proven record of punctuality and consistent attendance
  • Ability to view a computer screen for extended periods 
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of video conferencing equipment and methods of connection
  • Knowledge of web conferencing

Salary will be determined by the educational background and experience.
