The BSN and MSN programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. 

 

Description of Position
The Faculty in Nursing, Simulation Instructor position is primarily responsible for all simulation responsibilities and roles within the College of Nursing. The individual will actively function as a nursing faculty in the pre-licensure Bachelor of Nursing program working collaboratively with the dean, undergraduate chair, faculty and other NNU departments. The aim of the position is to support faculty and students toward successful preparation and completion of the BSN nursing program while providing high quality simulation encounters, and pre and post debriefs and competency assessments that meet accreditation and program/course outcomes. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Facilitates and supports students’ educational needs and compliance activities as a member of the College of Nursing faculty.
  • Demonstrates experience in developing and conducting high quality student-focused simulations.
  • Demonstrates ability to teach face to face classes and/or simulation activities as assigned.
  • Collaborates with the nursing team in accreditation processes, student advising, and retention.
  • Engages in course/simulation development and curriculum revisions to maintain accreditation and INACSL standards. 
  • Serves on university committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Current acute care medical/surgical setting experience or closely related specialty
  • Earned Master’s of Nursing Education degree
  • Experience in nursing higher education writing learning objectives/outcomes
  • Experience designing high quality simulation learning experiences
  • The University requires that all candidates have a Christian perspective (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), and must be comfortable with and in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU
  • Computer competency and aptitude for learning new software
  • Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in the English language

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Earned Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD in related field
  • Certified Nurse Educator Certificate (CNE)
  • Experience in simulation activities
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)

 

Compensation
