Darcie DeCoria

Assistant Controller/Senior Accountant

Biography: My family and I moved to Idaho from Washington State almost 4 years ago. Idaho feels like home to us. We have very much enjoyed all those we have met and who have become our friends along the way. I have been struck by what a faith-filled community the Treasure Valley is and am proud that we can be a part of that.

We have loved getting out and exploring Idaho corner to corner since we moved here. While we still have more places to go, we have found Idaho to be such a beautiful state with many great people and have many more places on our “list” to get to.

While not what I originally intended when I started college, God led me to an accounting course and I was hooked. I earned a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting and have held positions ever since using that training. Most don’t believe it, but accounting is actually fun! God has guided my career all along the way and through that has afforded me opportunities to see a wide variety of industries and business types and to experience a few of those “they didn’t talk about this in college” scenarios. All good for growing and stretching and trusting God through it all. My prayer is that He will bless the work that I do and that it will be used for His glory and for the good of NNU.

Favorite thing about working at NNU: My favorite thing so far about NNU is how much it puts God first in all that it does and in who it is. I am honored to be working in an organization and with people whose focus is on God first. Pursuing higher education is an exciting time in any person’s life whether they are right out of high school or those adding to their career and educational achievements. I am excited to contribute to that in the calling God has for my life.

Facts about your specific area(s) of expertise that you bring to your work: Non-profit, governmental and private industry business and accounting experience, auditing and internal controls, external audit liaison, federal, state and local grants auditing and accounting, preparation of financial statements, budgeting, operations financial analysis and reporting for management.

Why you love working with students: I love the energy, excitement and eagerness of students. That attitude of looking forward with excitement to completing their degree and wanting to learn more and grow to pursue that next call God has for their lives. It’s fun to watch that and be in that environment and to help in any way that I can, even if it is just to say, “Keep going, push through the hard parts, you will glad you did.”
