Position
Affiliate Faculty, Horn
My name is Robin Baker, and I am honored to teach horn for Northwest Nazarene University. Like my hero Rita Pierson, I spend most of my life at the schoolhouse or thinking about what goes on at the schoolhouse. More than any of my other occupations, I enjoy guiding students along their journey with our instrument. My own path with the horn started over 25 years ago in nearby Idaho Falls and supported me in my education through Colorado State University and the University of Idaho. My most defining teachers include Colleen Story, Dr. Stephen Moore, and David Rutherford.

I am active as first horn in the Treasure Valley Concert Band and the Hymns of Thanksgiving Orchestra in Boise. I play often at the Cathedral of the Rockies and generally stay very busy as a utility player in the area. I have been a member of the Washington Idaho Symphony and principal horn and soloist for the Loveland Chamber Orchestra. I hold a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture from the University of Idaho and earned a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction here at NNU in 2015. My other great calling is teaching science to middle school students. I am blessed in my partnership with husband, Russell, and in my role as parent to three talented kids.
