Todd Johnston

Assistant Athletic Trainer (WSOC, MBB, MLAX, XC/Distance and Throws)

Biography: Todd Johnston joined the NNU sports medicine staff in the fall of 2020 via St. Luke’s Sports Medicine.

At NNU, Johnston currently works with Nighthawks women’s soccer, men’s basketball, lacrosse, and the cross country/distance & throws athletes from track & field.

In addition to serving as an athletic trainer at NNU, Johnston is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach for the softball and baseball programs.

He assists with all aspects of the sports medicine efforts for these programs including year-round preventive care, immediate care for injured athletes at practice and games and the reconditioning of injured athletes.

Before coming to NNU, Johnston worked for St. Luke’s Sports Medicine in many different capacities within the Athletic Training Outreach Program from 2018-2020.

Previously, Johnston also served as an assistant and graduate assistant athletic trainer with the University of Nebraska football program from 2016 to 2018. Johnston also possesses NFL experience, spending the summer of 2015 as a student intern with the Seattle Seahawks.

Johnston is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association National Strength and Conditioning Association and holds certifications in Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation and NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Boise State University in 2016 and a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2018.

Johnston, a native of the Treasure Valley, enjoys getting into the outdoors as much as possible with family and friends.
