Competing and networking with over 1500 students from over 300 universities, NNU’s American Marketing Association (AMA) Collegiate Chapter won the Exemplary Collegiate Chapter Performance award for outstanding chapter planning and for community & social impact at the AMA International Collegiate Conference last weekend.

Each year, AMA collegiate chapters from the United States and Puerto Rico come together to receive advice from professionals, develop their careers, engage in competitions, network with fellow marketers and explore the lively city of New Orleans, Louisiana. This year’s guest speakers included Mark French, Co-Founder of MISSION Athletecare and Inventor of Court Grip, and Sheryl Adkins-Green, Mary Kay’s Chief Marketing Officer.

NNU has been represented well at this conference with their AMA chapter receiving 10 awards in the last nine years. Marko Lepovic (Kragujevac, Serbia), Zuri Tanahuvia (Nampa, Idaho), Lexi Tubbs (Turlock, Calif.) and Logan Wood (Maple Valley, Wash.) were the students representing NNU’s AMA chapter this year and were accompanied by Dean of the School of Business and AMA faculty advisor, Dr. Konya Weber. Weber also represented NNU by serving her second of three years in her elected position as co-chair of the conference.

“AMA has helped me see a way to apply all I’m learning in my classes into the future,” said Lexi when asked about her experience with this club. “The conference was extremely motivating and a way to better prepare for a career. I would tell underclassmen to join AMA—or any club—as a way to get involved with your school and also to be able to represent your school in a different way than most people think about.”
