Last month, NNU Dean of the College of Education, Dr. LoriAnn Sanchez, was appointed to the Idaho State Department of Education Professional Standards Commission (PSC) by the Idaho State Board of Education. She will represent private higher education institutions in teacher education.

“The State Board of Education has chosen wisely in selecting LoriAnn,” NNU President Joel Pearsall said. “She has been a long-time leader in preparing Idaho educators as an NNU dean and professor. In this new role, she will have the opportunity to extend her influence and impact to help shape the future of Idaho education.”

In this role, Sanchez will participate in quarterly meetings that address teacher preparation standards, P-12 student learning standards, educator ethics adjudications and educator preparation program review and approval.

“I am excited, and honored, for the chance to serve the community as a member of the PSC,” Sanchez said. “It is an opportunity for me to represent NNU and partner with other members of the education community to ensure Idaho has competent, qualified, ethical educators that positively impact student learning through professional practice.”

The appointment is for a three-year term that will run from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2024.
