NNU proudly presents Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods”

Northwest Nazarene University
Feb 18, 2019

What could a young maiden, a sad young lad, a childless baker, a cursed witch, a naive little girl and two princes possibly be doing in the woods at night?

Join Northwest Nazarene University’s Department of Music on the journey of a lifetime as they bring the beloved Sondheim classic to life, live and in concert. See all of your favorite childhood fairytales in a new light in this fun concert adaptation equipped with full orchestra, costumes, lighting and set.

A complex twist on the original Grimm Brothers’ Fairy Tales, Into the Woods includes all of your favorite stories from Jack and the Beanstalk to Little Red Riding Hood. As each character pursues their greatest wish—whether it be riches, royalty or having a child—they find themselves journeying through the woods to find it. In a tangled turn of events you’ll have to see in order to believe, we find that not one of these fairytales ends with your simple “happily ever after.”

Performances will take place March 7-9 at 7:30 p.m. and March 10 at 3:00 p.m. in the NNU Brandt Center. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at the door, online at nnu.edu/intothewoods, or by calling (208) 467-8413.

This production is included in NNU’s 2018-2019 Performing Arts Season Pass, which includes entry to all ticketed Department of Music events.

We’ll see you in the woods!
