HOW TO APPLY

We are excited about your interest in applying to Northwest Nazarene University! We want to make the application process as simple as possible. If you would like to contact the admissions office please call 1-877-NNU-4-YOU or (208) 467-8000.
Each professional program at NNU has a slightly different set of admission requirements. But the first step in the application process is to fill out the student admission application.
After you have submitted the student admission application, you will be connected with the admission counselor for your program. At that point, you'll be asked to submit a few other materials, which may include transcripts from your previous university, recommendations from a professional colleague, and more.

Program Specific Admission Information

Some programs, particularly graduate and professional degree programs, have specific admission application requirements. Choose a program from the list below to learn more.

Accounting (AA)

Application for admission to the NNU Online Program is made through the online application. The Admissions office receives and processes all applications for admission, assisting applicants with program specific admission requirements. Application materials needed for admission may include, and are not limited to the following:

 

  1. A completed application and application fee
  2. Official transcripts
  3. Two letters of recommendation
  4. Acceptable TOEFL scores for students whose first language is not English

Transcripts from international colleges or universities, must be evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluations Services (www.naces.org).

Individuals applying for admission to the Adult & Professional Program in Business should complete the following:

 

  • Submit an application online along with the $50 application fee to the Adult & Professional Program-Business office.
  • Submit the FAFSA online at fafsa.ed.gov. NNU's school code is 001624.
  • Research other financial aid opportunities.
  • Submit recommendations from two individuals that are familiar with your ability to successfully pursue the program, but are not related to you.
  • Request official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended and have them sent directly to the Adult and Professional Program-Business.[1]

  • Complete enrollment process with an APP Business Program Coordinator.
  • If English is not applicant's native language, submit a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Acceptance will be determined when the above are met and the individual has an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 in all previous academic course work.[2]

Business (AA)

Business Administration (BS)

Individuals applying for admission to the Adult & Professional Program in Business should complete the following:

 

  • Submit an application online along with the $50 application fee to the Adult & Professional Program-Business office.
  • Submit the FAFSA online at fafsa.ed.gov. NNU's school code is 001624.
  • Research other financial aid opportunities.
  • Submit recommendations from two individuals that are familiar with your ability to successfully pursue the program, but are not related to you.
  • Request official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended and have them sent directly to the Adult and Professional Program-Business.[1]

Christian Ministry Online (BA)

Individuals applying for admission to the Christian Ministry Online Program should complete the following steps:


Step 1

Submit an online application along with the $50 application fee.

Step 2

Apply for and accept financial aid by completing the following steps:

 

  1.  Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. NNU's school code is 00-1624.
    1. Request an electronic pin number. (This may take 3 or more days and will be sent via email.)
    2. Fill out the FAFSA using the appropriate federal tax return.
    3. Sign the financial aid form with the electronic pin number.
  2. Notification will be sent of grant/loan eligibility.
  3. Return Master Promissory Note
  4. Return Stafford Loan Interview
  5. Complete Stafford Loan Interview online www.nela.net
    1. Go to Mapping Your Future Entrance Counseling link at the bottom of the web page.

 

Step 3

Submit letters of recommendation from two persons familiar (non-family) with the applicant's ability to successfully pursue the program. One must be from a pastor.

If English is not your native language, you must also submit a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

  • Submit recommendations (academic or professional) from two individuals that are familiar with your ability to successfully pursue the program, but are not related to you.

Liberal Studies (BA)

Nursing (RN to BSN)

  1. Submit application to the RN to BSN Program with a nonrefundable $50 application fee (online)
  2. Provide documentation of current, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse
  3. Submit official transcripts for ALL previous undergraduate and graduate work to:

  4. Provide a professional recommendation using the online RN to BSN Recommendation Form if cumulative GPA is greater than or equal to 2.5 but less than 2.75*
  5. Students for whom English is not the native language are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). 

*Applicants with a GPA of 2.5 - 2.74 may be admitted provisionally.  Provisional students must earn a cumulative GPA of 2.75 in the first three nursing courses or they may not be permitted to progress in the RN to BSN Program.

 

Exceptions to regular admission requirements must be approved by the RN-BSN Program Director.

Secondary Education (AA)

Application for admission to the NNU Online Program is made through the online application. The Admissions office receives and processes all applications for admission, assisting applicants with program specific admission requirements. Application materials needed for admission may include, and are not limited to the following:

 

  • A completed application and application fee
  • Official transcripts
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Acceptable TOEFL scores for students whose first language is not English

Teaching Endorsements

Application Requirements

 

  • Submit a temporary non-degree seeking application using the online form.
  • Submit a copy of your valid teaching certificate by email to educationinfo@nnu.edu.
  • Submit two recommendations—request one from a principal and one from a mentor using the online form.
