High Performance Manager (All Sports Oversight, XCTF)

Biography: Josh Heidegger was hired in October 2024 as High Performance Manager for Northwest Nazarene Athletics.

A former NNU track & field student-athlete, Heidegger will have direct oversight over the strength and conditioning program and the local professionals that provide the training for the Nighthawks’ teams, while also working directly with track & field and cross country. He will be a consultant and liaison to NNU’s coaches in the areas of performance, and aims to increase competitive excellence across the board in the areas of athletic development and culture.

Heidegger returns to Nampa after spending eight years (2016-23) on the University of Southern California’s sports performance staff. In 2019, he became the Director of Sports Performance for all of USC’s Olympic sports. Before that, he assisted with the football program. He also oversaw training for USC’s baseball, men’s tennis, and women’s golf programs.

During those eight years in Los Angeles, he had the opportunity to work directly with multiple Olympians who came out of USC, as well as a number of current NFL, NBA, and MLB players.

Before joining USC, Heidegger spent one season (2015) as a full-time assistant strength coach at California. At Cal, he assisted with football and served as the head strength coach for the women’s rowing, men’s golf, and women’s golf programs. Prior to his stop at Cal, Heidegger worked with the Tulane football team during the 2014 season. While at Tulane, he also oversaw training for the track and field and cross-country programs.

Heidegger completed professional internships with the Washington (fall 2013) and Cal (spring 2014) football programs. He was also an assistant football coach at North Valley High School in Grants Pass (Ore.) in 2012.

Heidegger graduated from Oregon in 2012 with a bachelor’s of science degree in sociology. He threw the javelin for the Oregon track and field team (2010-12).

Prior to Oregon, Heidegger spent two years (2007-09) at Northwest Nazarene as a standout member of the track & field team. He held the NNU record in the javelin for 13 years and remains second in program history and seventh in GNAC history in the event. In the spring of 2009, he earned All-American honors with a runner-up finish in the javelin at the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships.

Josh and his wife, Cammy, a physical education teacher at South Junior High in Boise, have two children named Jaxon and Hazel.
