The Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) Forensics Team showcased their talent and dedication at the Valentine Forensics Tournament, held on February 14. Competing against nine colleges and universities from across Montana, Oregon, Idaho and Utah, NNU students delivered outstanding performances, securing multiple top placements.
Among the highlights, Lily Walsh claimed the title of Novice IPDA Debate Champion, earning first place in novice debate, the top speaker award and a first-place finish in Novice Persuasive Speaking. Miya Ingram dominated Varsity Programmed Oral Interpretation, receiving a perfect score from all three of her judges. Additional top finishes came from Rhianna Soft, Brooklyn Hallett, Chris Pezzoni, Nathan Edmonds and Gracie Ayer, collectively earning NNU fourth place overall in the tournament.
Several team members—Miya, Rhianna, Lily, Brooklyn and Nathan—will next compete at Christian Nationals on March 6 at Howard Payne University. NNU’s Forensics Showcase Event on March 19 at 5:00 p.m. will offer an opportunity to see these award-winning performances in action.
Congratulations to the NNU Forensics Team on their impressive achievements—an especially exciting milestone as NNU celebrates 100 years of forensics excellence!
