Admission into the BA of Social Work program at NNU requires an additional application and process with its own requirements in addition to NNU’s general admission process. If you are curious about whether or not the NNU Social Work program is a good fit for you, please contact the Social Work Department directly to chat. You can emai Nikki Bodenstab-Lee, the program director, at NBodenstabLee@nnu.edu or you can book a virtual meeting with this link

You can find a helpful step-by-step process of how to apply for the BA in Social Work program below.

If you have any questions about admission to NNU in general, please contact NNU Admissions counselor, Jeannette Strot, at 208.467.8496 or by email at transfer@nnu.edu

How to Apply

Step One

Set up an informal conversation with the NNU Social Work BA Program Director to start a conversation on what finishing your degree at NNU would look like. In this conversation we can help answer any of your questions. This is a chance to get to know you. You can set up this meeting via email socialwork@nnu.edu, phone 208.467.8680, or by using this scheduler.

Step Two

Submit your application for admission to NNU along with your unofficial college transcripts (official transcripts will eventually be required, but unofficial transcripts can be used in the admission acceptance evaluation process).

If you meet NNU’s admission requirements, you will receive your notice of admission acceptance.

Step Three

Meet with a social work advisor for an interview:

  • Schedule a meeting with your Social Work Advisor to craft a personalized plan of study.
  • Attend a virtual or in-person interview with your Social Work Advisor who will get to know you, your skills and your interests better. You will be contacted via your preferred method (indicated on your application) by your Social Work Advisor to set up this interview time.
  • The Social Work department will determine whether your prior credits meet the requirements and will then advise you on next steps or needed coursework if necessary.
Step Four

Watch for communication from the Social Work department on the status of your application and your next steps. If you are granted admission into the program, those next steps include:

  • Submission of official transcripts to admissions@nnu.edu
  • Registration for classes!

Watch for important details from your admission counselor on enrollment processes and activities.

One of the things that makes NNU stand out is how flexible and accommodating they are for non-traditional students. NNU understands that many of us are balancing work, family and life responsibilities, so they’ve built in options and resources that make it possible to manage school on top of everything else. I could keep up with my studies without sacrificing other parts of my life, and that flexibility made my goals achievable.
