Kevin Mokhtarian

Associate Professor of Business

Biography: Originally from California, I consider Kansas home, having lived there for almost 30 years before arriving in Idaho in the summer of 2019. My business background is in the banking and telecom industries, where I spent a combined 23+ years. I began my career in education in 2006, serving at colleges in Kansas with enrollments ranging from about 900 students to over 20,000. My undergraduate degree is in Human Resource Management, and I earned a master’s degree in Adult and Continuing Education, and a PhD in Adult Education and Leadership, all from universities in Kansas. I am a life-long Nazarene with a connection to Nazarene higher education that includes multiple family members. Despite growing up in the church, my faith did not become personal until about age 14, when I fully committed my life to Christ. I am constantly learning and growing in faith, and serve in a local church through music and other activities.

Share a few pieces of information that represent your teaching experience and why you love working with students: The focus of my career has always been some type of development, whether programs, products, or people. The most satisfying part of my teaching career is helping students develop into the person and role God has in mind for them. It is a privilege to see students grow “in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and people.” I have taught in adult programs as well as traditional classrooms, and am constantly seeking new ways to help people learn and grow. Satisfaction comes from seeing students develop in all facets of life and be prepared to enter the work-world excited and confident about this new chapter of life.
