About the Army Nursing Corps
Being a Nurse in the Army provides you with opportunities not found in the civilian world. As an Army Nurse and Officer, you will have the respect of your peers and coworkers, as well as opportunities to train and serve in a variety of specialties.
As a member of the Army Nurse Corps, you’ll be given opportunities of a lifetime! Your role as an Army Officer will afford you the chance to lead a nursing team and care for your patients in a variety of settings. Army Nurses have autonomy to practice nursing in a way that is unmatched by civilian healthcare facilities. Your professional judgment will be the driving force behind leading your nursing team to provide full-spectrum patient care.
The Army Nurse Corps believes in a holistic nursing philosophy. You’ll identify and organize multi-disciplinary resources for patients and their families to help them with inpatient, outpatient and home care. You’ll be able to understand the special concerns and needs of your Soldier patients because you’re also a Soldier, which allows you to better serve them. Identifying with your fellow Soldiers is essential to providing effective healthcare. Army ROTC can offer you unique nursing opportunities and financial assistance for college. You will gain valuable leadership experience and management training that can benefit you in either a military or private-sector nursing career.
When you’re pursuing an advanced healthcare degree, the last thing on your mind should be how you’re going to pay for it. The Army ROTC program offers two-, three- or four-year scholarships for undergraduate nursing students. Contact your high school academic advisor or campus Military Science department for more information.

Your one-on-one clinical experience will allow you to hone your clinical skills, develop your problem-solving techniques and become comfortable with developing your professional skills as a member of the U.S. Army Healthcare Team.
- Students who complete NSTP may be eligible to receive partial or full credit toward courses at NNU

Other Scholarships
4-Year National Army ROTC Scholarships
National scholarships are designed for high school seniors. The application window is during the first half of a student’s senior year and lies in conjunction with applying to college. The National Army ROTC Scholarship Program is run by the U.S. Army Cadet Command. The scholarship application window for the 2025-2026 academic school year opened on June 12, 2024. The annual deadline to initiate an application for a four-year national scholarship is February 2025. The application must be completed by March 2025.
2, 3 and 4-Year Campus-Based ROTC Scholarships
Campus-based scholarships are designed for high school students (who missed the national application period) OR for undergraduate and graduate level college students. Most campus-based applicants are already enrolled in ROTC, but this is not a requirement. Most of the criteria is still the same, but the process is different than the national process. Most of our Cadets on scholarship in ROTC received their scholarship through the campus-based process. There is scholarship money available, and we will work hard to make your packet as competitive as possible so that you can receive one.
