Campus Safety

The Campus Safety Department welcomes you to NNU.

Campus Safety is here to help ensure that the NNU community is as safe as possible. We want you to have a positive experience while you are here, and we invite you to contact us with any concerns, questions, or ideas you may have about Campus Safety. NNU believes it is also every individual’s responsibility to remain involved in the safety and security of the NNU community. You must remain alert to your surroundings at all times and report any unusual behavior or incidents immediately. Please contact the NNU Department of Campus Safety at 208.467.8911, or stop by the office at 515 S. Ivy St. Nampa, ID 83686.

Annual Campus Security Report

All crimes and incidents are reported in accordance with Uniform Crime Reporting procedures and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act as required by the United States Department of Education. Clery Act Crime Statistics are compiled from January 1-December 31 and updated by October 1st of each year.

The Annual Security Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Northwest Nazarene University and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security.

About the NNU Campus Safety Department

The Northwest Nazarene University Campus Safety Department employs five full-time officers, as well as part-time and student officers. NNU’s Campus Safety Department strives to provide a safe learning and living environment for all Students, Faculty, Staff and Guests.

NNU Campus Safety Officers are on duty and available for service seven days a week from 5:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. The campus is patrolled by a contracted security company from 12:30 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. and does NOT take calls for service. Emergency calls during this time should go to 911 for the Nampa Police Department to respond. To leave a message with Campus Safety please call 208.467.8911 and we will return your call by the following business day.

In Case of Emergency

If there is an emergency that requires immediate attention call 911 and then NNU Campus Safety.

Additional Information About Campus Safety

Services

Along with patrolling the campus and handling parking the Campus Safety Department also provides a few services to the NNU Community. Those services include, but are not limited to:

  • Information about the campus
  • Accompany students to and from class, residence halls, etc. during the evening hours
  • Vehicle assistance (vehicle lockouts, jump start, tire help)
  • Student welfare checks
  • Residence lockouts

All services provided by the NNU Campus Safety Department are handled by priority of the call.

Northwest Nazarene University is not responsible for any damage to vehicles requiring assistance.

Emergency Alerts

Information about emergency alerts on campus can be found by signing up for the Emergency Alert System on the NNU Portal.

Parking Permits

All students, staff, and faculty are required to have a parking permit to park on campus. Go to the NNU Portal and log into your personal PORTAL account. Then select Vehicle Registration from the left pane. Fill in all of the necessary fields with your vehicle information and click on submit. A parking permit will be forwarded to you through campus mail or the United States Postal Service. You are responsible for acting within the NNU Standards as it pertains to the Vehicle Policy use on campus.
