NNU WELCOMED STUDENTS BACK TO CAMPUS

Aug 28, 2024 | News

Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) welcomed their new and transfer students to the Nampa campus this past Monday as part of a new week-long orientation of activities called Launch. Launch provides opportunities for connection and engagement for the incoming class, allowing new students time to interact with faculty in intentional ways, ensuring they are prepared to engage academically from day one. This new longer orientation was designed to better serve new students, their families and supporters, empowering students to be successful early in their college careers and help them celebrate and embrace the strength of the NNU community.

NNU welcomed 258 new students, including 36 first-generation students, with NNU awarding four of these first-generation students with full-tuition scholarships, 48 transfer students and 5 international students from NNU’s sister institution Africa Nazarene University, along with one student from Korea. NNU also has a very strong dual enrollment program with 8,000 high school students in Washington, Oregon and Idaho taking college courses.

A key highlight of the week was the scarf ceremony on Tuesday, symbolizing the commencement hooding that students will experience at graduation.

On Friday, NNU hosted its annual Community Fair, attracting around 60 local churches and businesses. The event welcomed students and their families to Nampa, offering giveaways and invitations to visit their locations.

Classes at NNU officially began on Monday, August 26.
