NNU is proud to announce the launch of its We CARE capital campaign, a major initiative aimed at expanding the University’s nursing program to address the critical shortage of nurses in Idaho and across the nation. The We CARE campaign was announced October 17 at the annual President’s Dinner and seeks to raise $15 million to remodel current facilities and build new ones, enabling NNU to train more nurses equipped with both clinical excellence and Christ-like compassion.
NNU’s nursing program is renowned for producing graduates who not only excel in their professional skills but also embody a deep commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. “Our nursing grads not only provide excellent clinical care,” emphasizes NNU president Joel Pearsall, “but they also possess an enhanced ability to care for the whole person.”
However, limited space and outdated facilities have created a bottleneck in the program, preventing many qualified nursing candidates from being accepted. With Idaho facing weekly shortages of nearly 2,000 nursing positions, the need for well-trained, compassionate nurses is greater than ever. By expanding our capacity, we can empower more students to pursue their calling as nurses, support their families, and provide the care our healthcare system so desperately needs.
Hospital leaders throughout Idaho have praised NNU nursing graduates for their superior clinical knowledge and compassionate care. “NNU nursing graduates demonstrate superior clinical knowledge and critical thinking,” observes Travis Leach, COO of St. Luke’s Hospital at Home adding, “This is vital to the ever changing and complex healthcare landscape.”
Through the We CARE campaign, NNU is committed to ensuring more of these future healthcare leaders can be trained and sent out into a system that urgently needs them.
