Earlier this month, NNU’s University Choir & Orchestra had the privilege of performing at the Northwestern ACDA Conference in Spokane, Washington, held at the Historic Fox Theater.
More than ten percent of NNU’s student body participated in the performance as a part of University Choir & Orchestra. Ensembles were chosen by submitting recordings and competing against every university in the region, regardless of size.
“It is a great honor for the NNU University Choir & Orchestra to be a part of this conference,” said Director Dr. Philip Miller. “We were humbled and excited to be able to perform there. UCO is a 115-member ensemble that serves as ambassadors on the NNU campus and to churches throughout the Northwest. It is our great passion to demonstrate how the choral arts can be a vital and dynamic part of weekly worship.”
NNU’s University Choir & Orchestra is one of the lead ensembles for music in churches and fulfills the role of public relations for NNU. This ensemble is directed by Dr. Philip Miller and features over 100 students from a wide variety of majors across the campus. They perform extensively throughout the region and internationally. Their dynamic concerts feature music from hymn settings, contemporary Christian, gospel, classical choral/orchestral repertoire and a cappella settings. Their next performance will be Sunday, April 21, at 6:00 p.m. for Great Hymns of Our Faith along with NNU’s Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra and Bella Voce.
