Preparation

  • Students interested in pursuing a Pre-Medical concentration at NNU are encouraged to prepare by taking at least two high school courses in laboratory science and three years of high school mathematics. In planning a college program, you should follow the requirements and recommendations of the particular professional schools to which you anticipate applying for admission. NNU Pre-Medical advisors can assist you in planning your undergraduate coursework.

  • The Biology major with a Pre-Medical concentration has been specifically designed for matriculation into pre-professional programs. Those programs all require at least 8 credits of general biology, 8 credits of general chemistry, 8 credits of organic chemistry, 8 credits of college physics and 7 credits of biochemistry. As electives, you might consider additional courses in chemistry, biological science, mathematics, psychology and sociology. While NNU’s catalog explicitly lists a Pre-Medical concentration in the Department of Biology, students can also pursue a medical profession with a degree in biochemistry or other fields, if they take the core requirements in the sciences.

Meet Our Faculty

The academic rigor of the program really prepares students for the real practical work in their future students. I think the programs help students be well rounded in information, skills and techniques to make them successful. I personally (in only a semester) have experienced great transformation and change in becoming more willing to approach the challenges as they come and learning from each of them. The tension is good tension, that produces great results.
