Quinn Van Paepeghem

Northwesterners Instructor

Biography: Quinn Van Paepeghem is a lifelong music educator. Quinn taught high school choral music for 34 years, before moving to the collegiate level in 2014. He currently teaches at Northwest Nazarene University. His teaching responsibilities at NNU include the Northwesterners vocal jazz ensemble, Choral Methods, applied Jazz Guitar and assisting with Jazz Studies and Music Education programs. He holds Music Education degrees from the University of Oregon and Boise State University. Quinn was inducted into the Idaho Music Educator’s Hall of Fame in 2024 for his lifetime contribution to music education. He also serves as the Vocal Jazz and Commercial Music chair for Idaho ACDA and is the Past President of Idaho ACDA. He was selected Idaho’s “Outstanding Choral Director” by Idaho ACDA in 2014, for “Distinguished service to choral music in the state of Idaho.” The NNU Northwesterners were featured at the 2022 ACDA Northwest Conference in Spokane, Washington, the 2019 NAfME Northwest Conference and have recently performed for the Idaho ACDA fall mini-conference (2021, 2016 and 2019), and the Utah ACDA fall conference (2018). He is the organizing chair for the NAfME Northwest Honor Jazz Choir and is co-founder of the Treasure Valley Vocal Jazz Camp, held each summer on the NNU campus. He also hosts the Northwesterners Vocal Jazz Celebration Festival at NNU, held in February each year. Quinn is an avid jazz guitarist and heads his own jazz quintet with his wife, Shirley.
