NNU Course Information 2024-25
Advanced Placement (AP)
Credit for Advanced Placement will be awarded according to the chart in the link below. A maximum of 31 test credits may be transferred from all test sources.
Credit for AP exams is granted as transfer credits from the Educational Testing Service. Even if such credit appears on the transcript from another institution, original documentation is to be secured from ETS and these credits re-evaluated according to NNU standards.
College credit may be granted on the basis of scores 3, 4, or 5 made on the Advanced Placement Examination of the College Entrance Board. A score of 4 or 5 is required on some tests in order for credit to be granted. The number of credits will be determined by the NNU Registrar.
NOTE: AP credit requirements are subject to change.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
Northwest Nazarene University values the quality and rigor of an IB education. We believe IB students are uniquely equipped to be successful at NNU.
Credit for IB exams is granted as transfer credits from the International Baccalaureate Organization. Even if such credit appears on the transcript from another institution, original documentation is to be secured from the IBO and these credits re-evaluated according to NNU standards.
Students earning the International Baccalaureate full Diploma will receive five credits for each course completed, for a total of 30 credits. No credit will be granted for the Theory of Knowledge (ToK) course.
Credit will be granted for individual Standard Level (SL), or Higher Level (HL) courses completed with a score of 5, 6, or 7. Five lower-division credits will be granted for each course. Students will not receive credit for English Language B (language acquisition) courses.
A maximum of 25 percent of the total credits required for a degree (31 credits) may be earned using CLEP, DSST, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and credit by examination.
CLEP and DSST Test Equivalencies (tests to earn credits)
NNU accepts college credit from CLEP (College Level Examination Program) and DSST (Dantes) tests. Click the links below to view the course substitutions and credit amounts allowed by NNU for these tests.

Student Right to Know Act
Agency: Department of Education
Effective Date: July 1, 2000
Summary:
The Student Right to Know Act was finalized November 1, 1999. It requires that institutions receiving Title IV funding disclose certain information, including institutional graduation rates, athlete graduation rates, financial assistance awarded, and crime statistics. Specific guidelines exist as to the method and timing for reporting/disclosure to potential students, current students, and employees. Institutions are required to provide enrolled students a list of the information to which the students are entitled upon request. The HEA specifically requires that institutions provide the list annually to all enrolled students.
Compliance Requirements
NNU is required to:
A. Make available to any enrolled or prospective student, on request through appropriate publications, mailings, or electronic media, information concerning:
- Financial assistance available to students enrolled in the institution.
- The institution.
- The institution’s completion or graduation rate. In the case of a prospective student, the information must be made available prior to the student’s enrolling or entering into any financial obligation with the institution.
B. By October 1st of each year, make available to enrolled students and current employees the annual security report through appropriate publications and mailings.
C. By October 15th of each year, report to enrolled students, prospective students, and the public on athletic program participation rates and financial support data. NNU must submit the report to the Secretary within 15 days of release to students.
D. Submit the annual security report to the Secretary by October 1st of each year, and in the format specified by the Secretary. (Initial data due to secretary Jan. 2000).
Compliance Methods
An institution annually must distribute to all enrolled students a notice of the availability of the information required to be disclosed. The notice must list and briefly describe the information and tell the student how to obtain the information. An institution may satisfy any requirement to disclose information by posting to an internet web site. The following rules apply when reporting required information on the web:
A. Information disclosed to students by posting on an Internet web site must be preceded by the notice described above. The notice must also include:
- The exact electronic address at which the information is posted;
- A statement that the institution will provide a paper copy of the information upon request.
B. Annual Security Report
- Enrolled Students — must receive notice of the availability of the security report, the exact electronic address, and a statement that the institution will provide a paper copy of the information upon request.
- Current Employees — by October 1st of each year, current employees must receive a notice that includes a statement of the report’s availability, the exact electronic address at which the report is posted, a brief description of the report’s contents, and a statement that the institution will provide a paper copy of the report upon request.
- Prospective Students & Prospective Employees — prospective students & employees must receive a notice that includes a statement of the security report’s availability, the exact electronic address at which the report is posted, a brief description of the report’s contents, and a statement that the institution will provide a paper copy of the report upon request.
C. By October 15th of each year, NNU must make available to enrolled students, prospective students, and the public, athletic program participation rates and financial support data. Enrolled students are to receive a notice of the reports availability, including the exact electronic address at which the report is posted, a brief description of the report’s contents, and a statement that the institution will provide a paper copy of the report upon request. It is not acceptable to post to an intranet site for use by prospective students.

How do I order a transcript? What is the cost?
Transcript requests are now processed by Parchment. Find more specific information on the transcript you need in the information tabs above labeled Transcripts & Diploma Replacements.
Will a repeated course still show on my transcript?
A repeated course will appear on your transcript with the notation “**Repeated-under**”
The latest course will have the notation “**Replaces a Prior Course**”
The latest grade received, and credit earned will be considered in computing the grade point average
Will I need an NNU post office box?
Traditional Undergraduate students will need an NNU post office box. The primary communication from professors, administrators and campus messages is the NNU email system, but since not all information can or should be emailed, the secondary means is your NNU post office box. It is essential for you to have an NNU post office box. Note: It is the responsibility of the student to check their NNU email and NNU post office box on a regular basis.
May I use an email address other than the assigned NNU email?
All students must use the NNU email address for official NNU communications. It is not allowable to forward your NNU emails to an outside email system, such as Yahoo or Gmail.
Why is my name not on the course roll of the class I am attending?
If your name does not appear on a course roll, you may not be officially registered for the course. Go to the Registrar’s Office to resolve the problem.
Am I automatically dropped from a class I have never attended?
No. Unless you officially drop the course with an Add/Drop form or through the portal, you will remain enrolled in the class and will receive a detrimental final grade, as well as being charged the appropriate tuition and fees, if any, for that class.
Where should I start to apply for an Off-Campus study program?
Begin by contacting the NNU Study Abroad office at studyabroad@nnu.edu.
Who can help me with Veteran's benefits?
